By winning five of the ten divisions and reaching the finals of two others, Team Georgia was the runaway winner of the 2025 Callen Cup, held at the Huntsville Tennis Center this past weekend.
Formerly the Southern Senior Cup, the tournament was renamed by the USTA Southern Board of Directors in July 2021 for the late John Callen, who was USTA Southern Executive Director and COO for 33 years, along with being a Past President of USTA Georgia.
With its performance, Georgia retained both the Mildred Southern and Gil Stacy Cups:
Mildred Southern Cup (combination of women’s & men’s overall standings): 1st place – Team Georgia (88 points); 2nd place – Team Tennessee (59 points); 3rd place – Team North Carolina (57 points).
Gil Stacy Cup (total matches won): 1st place – Team Georgia (71 points); 2nd place – Team Tennessee (56 points); 3rd place – Team North Carolina (54 points).
The Peach State squad emerged victorious in the Women’s 45’s & 65’s divisions, along with the Men’s 45’s, 55’s and 65’s divisions. They reached the finals of the Women’s 35’s and Men’s 35’s.
