MARIETTA, GA – USTA Georgia today has announced that Tabitha Spooner of Bainbridge is the 2025 recipient of the prestigious USTA Georgia Presidents Award. At USTA Georgia President Michelle Fields’ sole discretion, the Presidents Award is given to a Georgia individual who has gone above and beyond in their advocacy efforts to help the Association fulfill its mission.
Her enthusiastic nature of promoting the sport to players of all ages and levels is noteworthy. Tabitha serves as USTA Adult League Coordinator of the Flint River Tennis League (Albany, Bainbridge & Mitchell County Tennis Associations), providing an opportunity for players in the southwest part of the Peach State to participate in organized leagues. As recognition of her efforts in this role, she was the recipient of the 2017 USTA Georgia Local League Coordinator of the Year. She also serves as head coach of both the Bainbridge High School & Middle School tennis teams.
Tabitha has also given her time and expertise to assist USTA Georgia in its volunteer leadership, most notably serving as District 7 Representative in 2015-18 and advancing to the role of Vice President in 2019-20. She has served as chair of the Site Selection Committee and currently is the chair of the USTA Georgia Adult League Committee, along with being appointed to the Association’s Nominating Committee in 2023 through present day.
“It is truly an honor to be recognized with the USTA Georgia President’s Award, Tabitha reflected. “Tennis has been a constant thread throughout my adult life, and I’ve poured my time into supporting it because I believe so deeply in the impact this sport can have on players, families, and entire communities. To be acknowledged for that devotion means more than I can say. I’m grateful for everyone who has shared this journey with me and helped make our tennis community what it is today.
In recognition of Tabitha’s service to the Association and Georgia tennis, USTA Georgia will be making a donation to the Georgia Tennis Foundation in Tabitha’s name.
Tabitha (along with other USTA Georgia annual awards winners) will be recognized at the USTA Georgia Community Tennis Development Workshop the evening of Saturday February 7th at the JW Marriott Buckhead.
