After three long days of competition (many hours affected by numerous rain delays), Team Georgia emerged victorious at the 2024 Callen Cup, held in Huntsville, Alabama.
The event is named after longtime USTA Southern Executive Director John Callen. John is a member of the Georgia Tennis Hall of Fame (Class of 2004) and a former Past President of USTA Georgia.
Georgia captured the Mildred Southern Cup (overall combined men’s & women’s standings), as well as the Gil Stacy Cup (total matches won by each state).
Mildred Southern Cup – Georgia 83 points (1st place)
Gil Stacy Cup – Georgia 58 points (1st place)
In addition, Georgia came out on top in 3 divisional competitions (Women’s 45’s, Men’s 45’s & Men’s 55’s).
Special thanks to Captains Lee King & Chris Bussert (pictured) for their continued efforts and enthusiasm supporting the Callen Cup. We also would like to thank the staff at USTA Southern, as well as Huntsville Tennis Center & Alabama Athletic Club for hosting this year’s event.
