MARIETTA, GA – USTA Georgia today has announced that Georgia tennis icon Dave Neuhart is the 2024 recipient of the prestigious Ruth Ryner Lay Award for Lifetime Achievement. The Ruth Ryner Lay Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Association and is given in recognition of continuous and distinguished service in an unselfish, dedicated manner over the span of a lifetime.
Dave has dedicated his life’s work to the promotion of tennis across many levels. The product of the Peter Burwash International (PBI) program, Dave has generated respect of the tennis community as an outstanding teaching professional and Director of Tennis, with stops at both Reynolds Lake Oconee and Green Island Country Club. A Past President of USTA Georgia (2017-2018), Dave has served the organization in numerous roles, including chair of its Human Resources, Nominating and Pro Relations Committees. He also served the Columbus Regional Tennis Association (CORTA) as its President, as well as 2 separate terms served on the USTA Southern Board of Directors as its Director at Large and Secretary.
“It is a distinct honor, and I am humbled to be listed among those servant leaders who previously were honored with this award”, Dave reflected. “I hope the many people I have served with, helped grow tennis with, and shared the sport with will in some way be able to share this award with me. We all know that it takes many people to work together to accomplish great things, not just one person. This award is for those many people who have provided support, confidence, and guidance to allow me to follow my dreams.”
Dave (along with other USTA Georgia annual awards winners) will be recognized at the USTA Georgia Community Tennis Development Workshop the evening of Saturday February 8th at the JW Marriott Buckhead.
