Elaine Hamilton Passing

Elaine Hamilton Passing

It is with great sorrow that USTA Georgia announces the passing of Elaine Hamilton earlier this morning in Marietta.

Elaine served the organization (and the sport of tennis) in a multitude of roles, most notably as its Executive Director until her retirement in 2013.  In fact, a number of the exisiting USTA Georgia staff were hired by Elaine directly and are still serving USTA Georgia today.

She was also the Community Development Director for a number of years.  Under her leadership, Georgia’s Community Tennis Association network grew both in numbers and strength, leading to three CTA’s being recognized as National CTA of the Year (USTA Atlanta, CORTA & Savannah Area Tennis Association).

Elaine received the 2013 Ruth Ryner Lay Award for Lifetime Achievement, the highest honor bestowed to a Georgia individual by the Association.

Services for Elaine are still being formulated and the organization will announce those in due course.  Please join all of us in expressing our sorrow and sympathy for the Hamilton family and her loving friends during this difficult time.
