Celebrating Excellence in Sportsmanship

Congratulations to Zachary Syzmanski of Locust Grove, GA on being named the recipient of the Ozaki-Hastings Junior Sportsmanship Award!

Presented annually by USTA Southern, this prestigious honor recognizes a junior player who exemplifies the very best of our sport—integrity, character, and fair play in competition.

The award is named in honor of two pillars of junior tennis:
• Bill Ozaki, affectionately known as “Mr. Junior Tennis” for his decades of impact
• Sandy Hastings, a longtime leader in junior competition

Selected from nominees across nine southern states, this recognition reflects not only Zachary’s performance on the court, but the respect and sportsmanship he shows every time he competes.

In addition to the this sportsmanship award, several outstanding Georgia individuals and organizations were recognized by USTA Southern for their impact on the game:

  • Junior Team Tennis (JTT) Coordinator of the Year: Robert Brown (Southeast Georgia JTT)
  • Local League Coordinator of the Year: Patsy Bendall (Macon Area Tennis Association)
  • Mac MacDougal Tennis Official of the Year: Ashley Dalton (Lawrenceville)
  • TOC Tennis Club of the Year: Georgia Tech
  • Wheelchair Excellence Award: Rob Popelka (Atlanta)

These honorees represent the passion, leadership, and dedication that continue to grow and strengthen tennis communities across Georgia.

Your example sets the standard for others and represents the finest traditions of tennis. We are proud to celebrate you all!
