USTA Georgia officials gathered at the USTA Georgia office on Sunday, November 1, for the annual Officials Social, an evening of food, fun, and fellowship. More than 20 officials from across the Peach State came together to enjoy an opportunity to connect with fellow officials away from the courts.
Guests enjoyed dinner from Carrabba’s, along with beer, wine, and soft drinks. The evening also featured a spirited game of Bingo with a tennis twist, bringing plenty of laughs and friendly competition to the gathering.
This year’s social included a special celebration honoring longtime Georgia official Val Walker, who retired earlier this year. Val has made an extraordinary contribution to tennis officiating, serving the game in multiple capacities throughout her career. Her experience includes working six US Opens as a line umpire and two NCAA Championships as a chair umpire. Beyond her accomplishments on the court, Val has also generously shared her knowledge and experience, helping newer officials develop their skills and grow in the profession.
The annual Officials Social is a wonderful opportunity to recognize the dedication of Georgia’s officiating community, celebrate the people who make a lasting impact on the game, and strengthen the friendships that extend well beyond the tennis court.
USTA Georgia thanks the Officials Committee, chaired by Linda Edmonds, for helping make this annual gathering possible, along with everyone who attended and continues to support tennis officiating throughout the state.
