Georgia Juniors Earn National Success at Inaugural I-65 Dominant Duo Championships

Georgia junior players delivered standout performances earlier this month at the inaugural I-65 Dominant Duo Championships in Bowling Green, Kentucky, bringing home titles and finalist finishes in one of the newest high-level junior events on the tournament calendar.

Designed for advanced junior competitors, the 2026 Level 5 I-65 Dominant Duo Championships introduced a fast-paced team format that challenged players in both singles and doubles competition. The May 8th – 10th event featured Boys’ and Girls’ 12s and 14s divisions, drawing approximately 256 talented junior players from across the country.

Georgia players rose to the occasion throughout the weekend, highlighted by championship performances from Lara Dua and Chase Avery Ericson in the Girls’ 14 division. The duo captured the title after navigating a competitive field and showcasing strong teamwork in the tournament’s unique “Dominant Duo” format, which featured one doubles match and two singles matches per tie.

Georgia also celebrated an individual champion in the Boys’ 12 division, where Aryan Praveen Kumar earned the championship title with an impressive run through the draw. Kumar demonstrated consistency and composure throughout the event, adding another strong national-level result for Georgia junior tennis.

In the Girls’ 14 division, Constanza Perdomo added to Georgia’s success by reaching the finals and earning a finalist finish against elite competition from around the country.

The Dominant Duo Championships were created to provide advanced junior players with a high-energy, team-oriented competitive experience. Matches featured shortened, fast-paced scoring formats designed to keep competition intense and exciting. Doubles matches were played as one set to six with no-ad scoring, while singles matches used a best two-of-three set format with a 10-point tiebreak in lieu of a third set.

The May tournament marked the inaugural event for the new series, with additional I-65 Dominant Duo Championships planned for October 2026 featuring Boys’ and Girls’ 16s and 18s divisions.

Congratulations to all of the Georgia players who competed and represented the state so well on the national stage.
