A change of dates and another uncertain weather forecast couldn’t keep Team Georgia from bringing home the cups! Georgia captured its fourth consecutive Callen Cup victory, retaining both the Mildred Southern Cup and the Gil Stacy Cup at the October 1–4, 2026 tournament.
Originally scheduled for May 28–31, the tournament was postponed because of weather. Weather concerns returned ahead of the rescheduled October weekend, and some teams decided not to attend. Tournament Director Adam Dalton persevered, working through the challenges to get the tournament played. His persistence paid off: the weekend brought great tennis with only one short rain delay.
Led by Georgia team captains Chris Bussert and Lee King, the Peach State claimed four of the tournament’s 10 division championships, winning the Men’s 45, Men’s 65, Women’s 35, and Women’s 55 divisions. Alabama and Tennessee each earned two division titles, while Louisiana and South Carolina each took one.
Georgia finished with 86 points in the Mildred Southern Cup, which combines the women’s and men’s overall standings, to finish eight points ahead of runner-up Alabama. Georgia also won the Gil Stacy Cup, awarded for total courts won across the women’s and men’s teams, with 56 points—an 11-point advantage over Alabama.
Congratulations to all of Team Georgia’s players and captains on another outstanding performance! Thank you to Adam Dalton for his determination and flexibility in making the tournament possible, and to everyone who helped turn an uncertain forecast into a memorable weekend of competition.
