USTA Georgia Past President Mark Botsch to receive Ruth Ryner Lay Award for Lifetime Achievement

MARIETTA, GA – USTA Georgia today has announced that Georgia tennis icon Mark Botsch of Atlanta is the 2023 recipient of the prestigious Ruth Ryner Lay Award for Lifetime Achievement.  The Ruth Ryner Lay Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Association and is given in recognition of continuous and distinguished service in an unselfish, dedicated manner over the span of a lifetime.

A Past President of USTA Georgia (2021-2022), Mark has served the Association in a multitude of other leadership roles, including as its Treasurer & District Representative.  Additionally, he has served as chair of numerous USTA Georgia committees, including Budget/Finance, Human Resources & Site Selection.  Currently, he is chair of the USTA Georgia Nominating Committee, tasked with identifying the next set leaders throughout the Peach State.

He served USTA Atlanta as its President and is still very active in both USTA Atlanta and Atlanta Youth Tennis & Education Foundation (AYTEF) affairs, having served as Past President of AYTEF.   He currently serves USTA Southern as a member of their Budget & Nominating Committees.

Not to be outdone, Mark is a vital part of the Georgia Tennis Foundation (GTF) leadership, currently in the role of Treasurer.

“I am so humbled to be the recipient of this year’s Ruth Ryner Lay Award for Lifetime Achievement by USTA Georgia”, Mark reflected.  “It is an honor to be included with so many great volunteers who have come before me.  I have tried to make a difference simply because tennis has given me so much”.

Mark (along with other USTA Georgia annual awards winners) will be recognized at the USTA Georgia Community Tennis Development Workshop the evening of Saturday February 10th at the JW Marriott Buckhead.
