The J60 Kennesaw ITF Junior Circuit event delivered a strong week of international junior tennis from April 12–18, as top young talent competed on clay at Marietta Country Club. Highlighting the event was a breakthrough performance from Georgia’s own Kayden Colombo, who captured his first ITF singles title in impressive fashion.
Colombo entered the tournament having already found success on the doubles court, but in Kennesaw, the 17-year-old elevated his game to another level. Competing in the ITF’s newer round-robin-to-knockout format, he navigated group play undefeated before carrying that momentum into the elimination rounds.
In the championship match, Colombo defeated Daniil Berezin 6-1, 6-4, avenging a recent loss and showcasing his growth against top international competition. His run through the draw included a series of straight-set victories from the quarterfinals onward, underscoring his dominance on the week.
Colombo didn’t stop there. He doubled up on success by also claiming the doubles title alongside partner Griffin Goode. The pair delivered a convincing 6-1, 6-3 victory in the final, capping off a perfect week for the Georgia standout.
On the girls’ side, Daniella Sales mirrored Colombo’s feat, winning both singles and doubles titles to complete a sweep of the event.
The J60 Kennesaw tournament is part of the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors, serving as an important stepping stone for rising players seeking international ranking points and competitive experience. Played on clay courts, the event also marked a key stop in the U.S. spring clay swing, helping prepare athletes for higher-level ITF competitions.
With his first singles title now secured—and a doubles championship to match—Colombo’s performance in Kennesaw signals a promising trajectory for one of Georgia’s top junior players. As the ITF junior season continues, his result stands as a significant milestone and a glimpse of what may be ahead.
